Who would have thought that one of the pioneers of Japanese Paris hijabs in Indonesia, napocut, has actually gone through a name change along its business journey? Initially, this family business was called "Pocut" and had been around since 2005.

In 2012, "Pocut" rebranded to "napocut," a name derived from the Acehnese language. "Na" means "to exist," while "pocut" is a noble title used to refer to an older sister. From the very beginning, napocut has aimed to represent the grace and elegance of women through its products.

Starting with plain hijabs, napocut gradually expanded its collection with designs inspired by Indonesian culture. Over time, bigger opportunities came knocking. And as the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility.

As Business Grows, So Do the Blows 📈

While napocut kept thriving both online and offline, the back-end operation was facing a battle of its own. One of napocut’s business models is subcontracting, where napocut works with a vendor to produce some of their products. As they came up with more products, they had more inventories to work on.

Regulating inventories for one store might be simple, but as an omnichannel business, napocut needed a way to integrate data from the warehouse to stores and vice versa. The lack of an integrated system has become an even bigger problem once the business scales up.

Before having an integrated system, napocut had a hard time tracking the stock in each store—including the online ones—in real-time. With no known record of activities in stores, warehouse, and production, it was difficult to keep an eye on product stock and sales performance.

Finding a Way Out through ERP

Shallwin Chan, COO of napocut, noticed that the manual and non-integrated workflow cannot keep up with napocut’s rapid growth. What napocut needed was an all-in-one solution that can help smoothen out the business process in terms of production, store management, and finance.

He then recommended ERP to Zada Amanda, the CEO of napocut at the time. Among the three ERP recommendations, they agree to proceed with Odoo for its flexibility, completeness, and user-friendliness.

"We focused on making manufacturing and distribution smooth, so we used Odoo’s three-step manufacturing. Now, we always know where our stock is, and automation helps cut down errors."

From Stock Struggles to Smart Solutions

With an integrated system, real-time stock tracking is no longer merely a vision. Solichin, napocut’s IT Assistant Manager, confirms that Odoo’s solution has increased sales and stock visibility, enabling their team to move quicker should there be a shortage, and make data-driven decisions on the double.

Accurate COGS and Margin Measurement

Fabric manufacturing can get pretty complex—buying materials in yards or rolls and turning them into pieces. But with Odoo, the process gets much easier. It automatically calculates costs based on inventory and financial data, helping napocut to keep healthy profit margins at ease.

Branch Growth Made Easy

In 2022, napocut opened their first flagship store. By 2023 and 2024, they expanded regionally and internationally, opening stores across Indonesia and even a booth in Singapore. With Odoo’s PoS, setting up new stores became effortless—no more manual product entries. All data, products, and prices are easily reflected for each new location.

Honoring Legacy, Scaling with Technology

napocut stands by nicePeople, offering strength and support in these journeys, making “melangkah bersama” a meaningful moment of sharing knowledge, strengthening bonds, and reinforcing our resolve to move forward together toward a better life, both in this world and the hereafter.

This commitment is also reflected in napocut’s product selections, designed to support every phase and daily activity—from hijabs and clothing sets to activewear.

With Odoo, napocut gets more than just tools—it has a system that powers growth. As they expand with eleven new stores in 2025, Odoo streamlines operations, keeping them focused on what matters most—business growth and staying ahead.
